Nao-Cola Yamazaki debuted in 2004 with the Bungei Award-winning novella Don't Laugh at Other People's Sex, which has since been adapted into a major motion picture. She has published over ten novels, essay collections, and a children's book, and has been nominated for the Akutagawa Prize four times. Yamazaki was a participant in the 2013 Writers Omi at Ledig House Translation Lab. She lectures at Kokugakuin University as an adjunct professor of modern Japanese literature.
